poem 8

April 8, 2014 § 1 Comment

there was only one bed

we were there for our boards (back when you sat
the the damned things in person with proctors and bathroom monitors
for not one but two days) after two years together and
two months apart, we screamed (as if it had been two lifetimes
since we’d seen each other) and talked
drank laughed and ate giving tomorrow
no thought—-we were the best&the brightest, of course
we’d pass—-and he’d just ‘come out’ (

never saw him again, of course he died

)  but it’s about how that night we shared
the bed cause
there was only one
