but did you know

it wasn’t Nate, my father, dying or depending on the telling
that he killed himself or leaving relatives friends der Yiddishe
Folke Schule my violin teacher bicycle hiding places the first boy
I ever really liked to move out west where I saw
my first cow in the wild got a glad new father and
two new brothers or that my brown hair long and wild
was not short blond and kempt and maybe there were 5 people

who were jewish, no
it was that Monday in December at the new school
someone asked my name and I said, Judy Marcuse

that was when I lost my leaves

the print shop

april poem a thon two

carlton street, oh brother

do I have a mummy and a daddy too she wanted to know
at not quite six years old
running into the house, having until that moment
called her parents ✳ like they did each other ✳
by their first names,

and as if that wasn’t enough
there soon came unto them a David; her
brother

never seen me
but sees me good

12 years and change
since sortoflike in
sickness & in health—
and it was—you found
me ❄ wallflowering ❆
and pushed me over
the cliff, saving my
raggedyass life, ‘course
I’m on your back
comes and goes with the
territory
